How much does it cost?
Nothing! Amtgard is free to play. Feel free to bring some water and wear clothes you can move comfortably in.
Do I need a costume or equipment?
Come as you are at first; we'll lend you foam swords and shields. When you're ready, we'll help you make, buy, or borrow garb and gear.
Is it safe and do I need to know the rules?
Safety is our top priority! We'll teach you the basic rules and go over how to play safely. Just show up, meet the friendly regulars, and we'll set you up.
Can kids participate?
Yes! Kids 14 and up are welcome. Kids under 14 are welcome to watch, and we'll have information for parents when you visit.
What if I don't want to fight?
That's fine! Many people in Amtgard focus on roleplay, arts and crafts, spellcasting classes, or just build new friendships.
Where and when do you meet?
We meet every Saturday at 1 p.m, at Beverly S. Sheffield Northwest District Park, 700 Additive Street in Austin, TX.
